Physical Education
At St Anthony's Primary School, we believe strongly in promoting the development of the ‘whole child’ and their self-esteem through a broad and balanced curriculum. Our Physical Education Curriculum also includes weekly swimming lessons for children in Year 3 - Year 5 and Forest School for children in Reception - Year 2.
The children at St Anthony's are taught progressive skills in games and gymnastics. The emphasis is on learning skills and sportsmanship but the school also teaches creative P.E for the Infant years, children are helped to develop co-ordination, balance and dexterity. As the children grow, they take on more advanced skills and begin to learn game rules and techniques. By the Junior years, the children are taking part in football, netball, rounders and cricket. The children also participate in dance activities which are taught alongside other PE activities. The lessons include aspects of movement and musical interpretation as well as devising dance routines.
